The Last Righteous One : The Abuhatzira Dynasty
A FILM BY RAFAEL BALULU
"The Last Righteous One: The Abuhatzira Dynasty" tells the story of the Abhatchira family, a Jewish-Moroccan rabbinical noble dynasty that has been leading Jewish communities for two centuries. The film brings the biographical story of Rabbi Israel Avhatchira, Baba Sali, from his childhood in Morocco to his old age in Israel, alongside the story of his younger brother, Rabbi Yitzhak Avhatchira, Baba Khaki. Between the desert of southern Morocco and the Israeli periphery, between the great wave of immigration and the Israel of today, the film also presents the public activity of the second generation: Rabbi Baruch Abuchatzira and Aaron Abuchatzira, who took the reins of leadership from their ancestors and shaped Israeli culture, society and politics.
